Huntington v. State Board of Education

Through Act 46 of 2015, the highly controversial school-consolidation law, the Vermont State Board of Education has stripped many small, rural schools of their local governance, including Huntington School District. The State and neighboring Mount Mansfield Modified Unified Union School District have ignored the will of Huntington’s citizens, who voted four separate times against merger.   TGRS attorneys Stephen Coteus and Nicholas Low continue to fight for Huntington’s right to remain an independent school district under Vermont’s education statutes and Constitution.  Their case remains pending before the Vermont Supreme Court.
